Meet Our Staff...
Shannon Harker
I am a 1994 graduate from the Blue Ridge Community College in Veterinary Technology. I enjoy working with people as well as their pets ! I especially enjoy seeing and working with exotic pets like the reptiles, avians and pocket pets. When I am not at work, I enjoy bluegrass music festivals and hiking in the Blue Ridge Mountains. My family includes my husband, Matthew Harker, 4 dogs: Kanani, Bruce, Simon and Buddha as well as a one-legged cockatiel named Peg-Leg Pete.
Tracy Pickeral
I began working at the Animal Hospital of Lynchburg in May of 2008. I have been in the veterinary field for over 10 years and am hoping to continue school to obtain my degree as a Veterinary Technician soon. I have a son, Noah, whom my world revolves around. We enjoy watching cartoons together, going to the park and playing with our dog. Ginger is our canine companion, my first puppy love and Noah's best friend. Animals seem to have a way of finding me. Especially the cats. Smokey, PJ, Bandit, Brady, Purry, Candy, Lil' Man, and Baby Girl are my feline friends.
Kathleen Walker
My name is Kathleen "Kat" and I am another of the kennel and veterinary assistants who started working in July of 2010. I have been in the Veterinary Medicine field for almost 6 years now. As I graduate from Lynchburg College with a Bachelor of Science in Biology, I plan to continue my education and become a veterinary technician. Later, I may pursue a degree in zoology because my passion is to work with large cats at a zoo. I enjoy learning about all animals and my interests include motorcycles, reading, painting, sports and having fun. Though I have only been here a short time, I have gained a lot of experience and knowledge, and wouldn't trade it for the world. I love the camaraderie between the staff here at The Animal Hospital of Lynchburg.
Kylian Harrison
My name is Kylian. I have only been working at the Animal Hospital of Lynchburg since May 2012, but in the time I have spent here I've loved every minute. I'm a student at Liberty University studying Zoology, hoping to pursue a future in Veterinarian Technology and further into becoming a Veterinarian. I have two dogs that are my world; Jack, a golden retriever, and Rupert, a basset hound.
Shelly Evans
I am new to the veterinary field, but have worked with animals my entire life, including a recent stint at a Kansas zoo. After earning my MS in Biology and moving back to Virginia, I was incredibly lucky to be hired on as a kennel assistant in November 2012. My family and I have been clients at The Animal Hospital of Lynchburg for many, many years, and I am enjoying the experience of what it's like behind-the-scenes. I have a Himalayan, two snakes, two horses, and a Rottweiler brother.
Alyssa Everett
I joined the Animal Hospital of Lynchburg team in December of 2012, just after moving to Lynchburg from Northern Virginia. I have been working in the veterinary field for a year and a half now. My roommate and I have three pets that we absolutely adore; A cat named Ziggy, a bunny named Appa, and a hedgehog named Pineapple. I enjoy reading and painting. I hope in my lifetime I get the oppurtunity to visit every country, and see all the beauty this world has to offer.
